Getting started

How do I install Verdict AI?

Install from the Shopify App Store. After install, Verdict AI walks you through three steps: (1) confirm your store category, (2) re-index your catalog (takes 1–3 minutes for typical stores), (3) generate your first batch of panels. Panels stay in Draft until you click Publish — nothing reaches your live storefront automatically.

How do I add the panel to my product page?

Verdict AI ships as a Shopify Theme App Extension. From your theme editor, open any product template, click Add block, and choose Verdict AI Panel. Place it where you want — most merchants put it just below the buy button. Save the theme. The panel only renders on products where you've published a panel.

What product categories work best?

Verdict AI is tuned for beauty, skincare, supplements, fitness gear, and pet products — categories where shoppers are evaluating fit, ingredients, or skill level. It still works for apparel, home, and electronics, but the gain from "Skip if" content is largest in considered-purchase categories.

Generating & editing panels

How are panels written?

Verdict AI sends your product title, description, tags, options, and ingredients (when present) to an AI model that has been prompt-engineered to output: a short summary, 3–5 "Perfect for you if…" bullets, 3–4 honest "Skip if…" disqualifiers, and an optional cross-sell suggestion when a better-fit product exists in your catalog.

Can I edit the AI output?

Yes — every panel is fully editable in the Verdict admin before publish. Click any bullet to rewrite it, add or remove rows, or rephrase the summary. Edits are saved per product and are preserved when you regenerate (Verdict AI shows a diff and asks before overwriting your edits).

How do I regenerate a panel after I update product copy?

Open the product in Verdict admin and click Regenerate. Or use Bulk regenerate in Settings to re-run the entire catalog after a major copy refresh. Bulk runs are queued and notify you when done.

Why does my panel reference an ingredient that isn't in my product?

This usually means the product description or tags imply an ingredient that isn't actually present (for example, "vitamin C–style brightness" in a product without ascorbic acid). Edit the source product copy to be unambiguous, then regenerate. If it persists, email us with the product URL — we'll tune the prompt for your category.

Plans & billing

Which plan should I be on?

Starter — $24/mo
Up to 100 products with active panels. Best for new stores or single-collection brands.
Growth — $59/mo
Unlimited products. Most beauty / skincare / supplement brands fit here.
Scale — $149/mo
Up to 2,000 products. For established brands with deep catalogs.
Enterprise — custom
2,000+ products, multi-store, custom prompt training. Contact sales.

Annual plans save ~20%. You can switch plans at any time from the Verdict admin.

What counts toward my plan limit?

Only products with a Published panel count. Drafts, archived products, and unpublished panels are free.

How are charges handled?

All billing runs through Shopify. Charges appear on your normal Shopify invoice — we never see or store your payment details. New paid plans get a 14-day free trial.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds follow Shopify's App Store refund policy. If something is genuinely broken on our end, email support.verdictapp@gmail.com and we'll work it out.

Storefront & performance

Does Verdict AI slow down my product pages?

The storefront block is server-rendered HTML loaded from a CDN-cached endpoint. Typical added page weight is under 8 KB and there is no client-side JavaScript blocking render. We test against Google's Core Web Vitals on every release.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes — the panel is responsive and collapses to a single accessible accordion on screens under 640px. Tested on iOS Safari, Android Chrome, and Samsung Internet.

Is it accessible?

The panel meets WCAG 2.1 AA: semantic headings, keyboard navigable, sufficient contrast, screen-reader labels on the expand/collapse interactions.

Will it conflict with my theme?

Verdict AI uses Shopify's official Theme App Extension API and inherits your theme's typography and color tokens. If something looks off, the admin has a Style tab where you can override text size, color, and border radius without touching your theme code.

Privacy & data

What data does Verdict AI collect?

Store metadata, product catalog, theme references, and aggregate panel telemetry (impressions, clicks, dismissals). We do not collect customer names, emails, addresses, or payment info. See our Privacy Policy.

What happens when I uninstall?

The storefront block stops rendering immediately. Shopify fires the shop/redact webhook 48 hours later, and we delete all of your shop's data within 30 days. Need it sooner? Email us.

Troubleshooting

The panel isn't showing up on my product page

Check three things: (1) the App Block is added to the product template in your theme editor; (2) the panel is in Published state in Verdict admin (not Draft); (3) you've saved the theme. If all three are true and it's still missing, email us with the product URL.

"Plan limit reached" banner

You have more published panels than your current tier allows. Either upgrade your plan or unpublish panels you don't need. Drafts and archived products don't count.

Bulk regenerate is stuck

Bulk jobs run on a background queue. For catalogs over 500 products, expect 5–15 minutes. If it shows "Running" for over an hour, email us with your shop domain.

I'm getting a Shopify auth error

Re-open the app from your Shopify admin (Apps → Verdict AI). Shopify session tokens refresh on each load. If the error persists, uninstall and reinstall — your panel data is preserved by shop domain.
