Verdict reads every skincare product on your Shopify store and writes an honest "Perfect for / Skip if" panel plus a 3-question Fit Score quiz. Shoppers self-qualify before checkout. Returns drop. The right customers buy with confidence.
EXAMPLE — what shoppers see on a real skincare PDP
Vitamin C 20% Brightening Serum
A clinical-strength L-Ascorbic Acid serum for experienced users targeting dullness, post-acne marks, and uneven tone. The 20% concentration is among the highest available and is meant for skin already adapted to lower-strength vitamin C.
✓ Perfect for you if…
You've used 10–15% Vitamin C for 8+ weeks without irritation
You're targeting stubborn post-acne marks or sun damage
You wear daily SPF 30+ (Vitamin C is photo-sensitive)
You prefer vegan, fragrance-free formulas
You're ready to step up to a clinical-strength concentration
⚠ Skip if…
You have rosacea or highly reactive skin — try the 10% formula first
You're new to Vitamin C; 20% can cause initial tingling
You're using high-strength AHAs or BHAs daily — layering may irritate
You're pregnant and want to avoid actives without OB clearance
Why skincare brands install Verdict
Skincare is the #1 vertical for returns. Verdict is built specifically for that problem.
11–18%
return rate drop in 60 days (beta data)
30%

↓
Returns drop where it hurts most
Skincare has the highest return rate in DTC (industry average 18–24%). "Skip if you're on tretinoin / pregnant / using high-strength AHAs" filters wrong-fit shoppers before checkout — exactly the disqualifiers your CS team writes 100x a week.
⚗
Built on ingredient logic
Verdict reads ingredient metafields, INCI names, and active concentrations. A 15% Vitamin C serum is described differently than 5%. A retinoid panel includes the standard pregnancy contraindication automatically. No copywriter babysitting.
🎯
Fit Score quiz for sensitive categories
3 questions per product: skin type, current routine, sensitivity. Shoppers get a 0–100% compatibility score on the page. The right buyer feels confident. The wrong buyer doesn't waste $48 on something that'll irritate them.
How it works for skincare
Install, bulk-generate, edit, ship.
1
Connect your catalog
One-click from the Shopify App Store. Verdict indexes every product, reads ingredients + tags, and queues them for generation.
2
Generate the whole catalog
Bulk generation runs in the background — typical skincare catalog (50–250 SKUs) takes 5–15 minutes. Panels and Fit Score quizzes stay in Draft until you approve.
3
Edit inline, publish
Every "Perfect for" / "Skip if" bullet is editable. Add the App Block to your product template once. Drafts stay invisible; published panels render instantly.
Skincare FAQ
What skincare merchants ask before installing.
Does Verdict know the difference between AHA, BHA, and PHA?
Yes. Verdict reads ingredient metafields and recognizes specific actives — L-Ascorbic Acid vs. THD Ascorbate, Retinol vs. Retinal vs. Tretinoin, Salicylic Acid vs. Lactic Acid. The "Skip if" bullets reflect the actual layering and contraindication rules for each active.
What about pregnancy safety warnings?
Verdict auto-includes the standard pregnancy disclaimer for retinoids, high-strength salicylic acid, and hydroquinone. You can edit or remove the wording, but the default is conservative and matches NIH dermatology guidance.
Will it work for my private-label brand without detailed ingredient data?
It works best when your products have INCI ingredient lists in metafields. If you don't, Verdict falls back to product titles and descriptions — quality is lower but still useful. We recommend Shopify's free Metafields Guru app to set up an "ingredients" metafield in 10 minutes.
Can I match the panel to my brand's voice (clean, clinical, playful)?
Yes. The Scale plan includes custom prompt tuning per category — tell Verdict your tone ("Glossier-casual," "Drunk-Elephant-clinical," "Mantra-Mask-zen") and every regenerated panel matches.
Does it slow down my product page?
No. The storefront panel adds under 50KB and renders below the fold. Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) are unaffected — verified on Dawn, Refresh, and 3 major paid skincare themes.
What's the return-reduction guarantee?
No guarantee — anyone who promises one is lying. Beta merchants (10 beauty brands, 60 days) averaged 14% lower return rates with a range of 11–18%. Some brands saw 5%, one saw 22%. The "Skip if" bullets work best on high-consideration purchases ($30+) where shoppers actually read the page.
